Game Tech
Starnage is being built with the Unity Game Engine and will initially be for the PC/Mac only. The game will be browser based and use the Avalanche blockchain for secondary market NFT trading and $PLASMA token usage.
NFT holders will have the option to purchase in-game assets with $PLASMA, $THOR, and $AVAX.
Why we chose Avalanche
Avalanche is the first decentralized smart contracts platform built for the scale of global finance, with new-instant transaction finality. Here are some of the features of the Avalanche Consensus:
Executes 4,500 transaction per second
Resilient to 51% attacks
Highly decentralized
Scalable & Robust
Why we chose AWS
Building a successful game in this market is a difficult task that requires tremendous amount of effort. With thousands of games being released each year, vying for player's time and attention, performance and reliability is extremely important. Amazon Web Services provides a hosting solution that deploys, operates, and scales cloud servers for multiplayer games like Starnage.
Some of the other benefits to AWS are as follows:
automatically scale and manage servers
low latency player experience
high server resiliency
Why we chose the Unity Game Engine
There are some great game engines out there, but ultimately we chose to develop with the Unity Game Engine due to our team having more experience using it, as well as the fact that it uses the C# programming language which our devs are most comfortable with.
